1. Scope of this Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the For Friends mobile application. It does not apply to:
the For Friends informational website, which has its own separate privacy policy; or
third-party websites or services you access via links in the App.
2. Personal Data We Collect
2.1 Data you provide directly
When you create an account or use the App, you may give us:
Name or username
Email address
Profile information (profile photo, bio, interests)
Content you share: posts, reviews, photos, comments, and messages
Communications with us, such as support requests or feedback
2.2 Content and social interactions
When you use social features, we process:
Content you upload or share (reviews, location recommendations, photos)
Interactions with other users (likes, comments, follows, reactions, messages)
Metadata associated with content (timestamps, location tags, interaction counts)
The visibility of your content depends on your privacy settings. We cannot control how other users interact with content once it is visible to them (for example, taking screenshots).
2.3 Data collected automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect:
IP address
Device type, manufacturer, model, operating system, and app version
Unique device identifiers and advertising identifiers (e.g. IDFA, GAID)
Log files, crash reports, and performance data
Usage data: features used, screens viewed, time spent, taps and scrolls
This data helps us operate, secure, and improve the App.
2.4 Tracking technologies and analytics SDKs
We use third-party analytics and performance SDKs within the App. These tools may collect usage patterns, crash reports, and device identifiers to help us understand how the App is being used and to fix issues. These SDKs operate under data processing agreements and may only use data in accordance with our instructions.
If we use advertising identifiers for analytics purposes (not for serving ads), you can reset or limit ad tracking through your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking; Android: Settings > Google > Ads).
2.5 Location data
With your permission, we may collect:
Approximate location (city or region, derived from IP address); and/or
Precise location, via your device’s GPS or location services.
Location data powers features such as discovering nearby restaurants, venues, and places recommended by your friends. You can enable or disable location access at any time in your device settings. We collect precise location only when you have granted permission, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising.
2.6 Data from third-party integrations
If you sign in via Google Sign-In or connect other third-party services, we may receive:
Authentication information (name, email address) from Google Sign-In
Data from other integrations, based only on permissions you explicitly grant
We receive only the data necessary for the relevant integration.
2.7 Aggregated and anonymised data
We may generate aggregated or anonymised data from App usage (for example, the most-saved restaurant in a city). This data does not identify you individually and may be used for analytics and product improvement.

4. Personalised Content and Recommendations
The App personalises your experience using:
Your interactions with content and other users
Your preferences and activity within the App
Location data, where enabled
Personalisation helps us show you restaurants, places, and recommendations that are relevant to your network and interests — based on what your friends are sharing and saving, not on advertising profiles. You can manage certain personalisation settings through the App.
5. Push Notifications
If you grant permission, we may send you push notifications about activity relevant to you (for example, when a friend recommends a place, or when someone interacts with your content). We rely on your consent for this. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device’s notification settings or within the App.
6. Content Visibility and Deletion
6.1 Content visibility
The For Friends app allows you to share content with your friends. Depending on your privacy settings:
Your profile and recommendations may be visible to friends or to other users (depending on whether your account is public or private)
• Content you share may be viewed, saved, commented on, or otherwise interacted with by others
We recommend reviewing your privacy settings regularly.
6.2 Account and content deletion
If you delete your account:
Your profile, posts, reviews, and personal data will be removed from active systems
Content you have shared that others have interacted with (e.g. a recommendation saved by a friend) may be anonymised rather than deleted outright, to preserve the integrity of shared features
Some data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period (up to 90 days) before permanent deletion
We will not use data retained in backups for any new processing during this period
If you wish to delete specific content (posts, reviews, photos) without closing your account, you can do so directly within the App.
7. Sharing Personal Data with Third Parties
We share personal data only with trusted service providers that support the operation of the App, such as:
Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers
Analytics and diagnostics providers (operating under data processing agreements)

These parties process data on our behalf and may only use it in accordance with our instructions. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
We may also share data where required by law, in response to valid legal requests, or to protect the safety and rights of our users.
8. External Links and Third-Party Services
The App may include links to third-party services, such as restaurants or venues where you can make reservations. Please note:
For Friends does not process payments within the App
Any booking or transaction takes place directly with the third party
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any external services you use.
9. Moderation and Safety
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, we may:
Review content or accounts that are reported or flagged by other users
Remove content that violates our community guidelines or terms of service
Restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts in cases of misuse
These activities are based on our legitimate interest in ensuring the safety, integrity, and trust of the platform.

Account data: retained while your account is active
User content: retained until deleted by you or removed under our policies

Usage and technical data: retained for up to 24 months for analytics, security, and improvement
Backup copies: retained for up to 90 days after deletion before permanent erasure

The App is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us at info@forfriends.app so we can take appropriate action.
13. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
Access — request a copy of your personal data
Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
